This is the art and process of designing and creating plans for layout and planting of residential, commercial, and institutional gardens and landscapes. Elements of garden design include the layout of hard landscape, such as paths, walls, water features, sitting areas and decking; as well as the plants, with consideration for their horticultural requirements, their season-to-season appearance, lifespan, growth habit, size, speed of growth, and combinations with other plants and landscape features. Consideration is also given to the maintenance needs of the garden, including the time or funds available for regular maintenance, which can affect the choice of plants in terms of speed of growth, spreading or self-seeding of the plants, whether annual or perennial, and bloom-time, and many other characteristics.
Important considerations in garden design include how the garden will be used, the desired stylistic genre (formal or informal, modern or traditional etc.), and the way the garden space will connect to the home or other structures in the surrounding areas. All of these considerations are subject to the limitations of the prescribed budget.
These structures generally do not require an architect stamp to construct.

ACM provides consultation for “color scheming” which is the recommendation of colors used in designs for a wide range of physical applications.
Color schemes are used to create style and appeal. Colors that create an aesthetic feeling when used together will commonly accompany each other in color schemes. A basic color scheme will use two colors that look appealing together. More advanced color schemes involve several colors in "Analogous" combination, usually based around a single color; for example, text with such colors as red, yellow, and orange arranged together on a black background in a magazine article. The addition of light blue creates an "Accented Analogous" color scheme.
Color schemes can contain different "Monochromatic" shades of a single color or “Complimentary” color which are on opposite sides of the color wheel. In this case the actual wave lengths of opposite colors cancel each other out and create gray when mixed but when juxtaposed create very appealing combinations; for example, (red) and (green), (purple) and (yellow) or (blue) and (orange).
“Color scheming” refers to the choice and use of colors for purely aesthetic effect as well as for purely practical reasons. This most typically refers to color patterns and designs as seen on houses, outbuildings and other structures which may want to blend with the surrounding environment or supplement sustainable practices such as solar heat reflectance or gain. Color schemes are often described in terms of logical combinations of colors on the color wheel.
